Introducción Los aimaras se concentran hoy en esta porción del altiplano andino, a alturas de 3.800 m. y más, en un medio extremadamente duro, de pobre vegetación y escasa fauna. Con anterioridad a la expansión de los incas, la familia lingüística aimara gozó de una notable expansión, pero hoy hablan esta lengua sólo algunas tribus.
