Vida y obra Inició sus estudios, bajo la dirección de Manuel Méndez de Olivera y Fernando Antonio de la Peña, en su localidad natal. En 1791 se trasladó a Salamanca para emprender la carrera eclesiástica, pero una vez alií decidió cursar estudios de Medicina, disciplina que nunca llegó a ejercer —tradujo y prologó dos obras de esta disciplina en 1800 y 1803.
