Geografía física Las islas que componen Tuvalu son picos de montañas sumergidas sobre los que se han formado arrecifes y atolones coralinos. Comprende nueve islas pequeñas — Funafuti, Nanumanga, Nanumea, Nui, Niutao, Vaitupu, Nukufetau, Nukulaelae y Niulakita—, todas ellas bajas, cuyo relieve alcanza una altura máxima de 4,6 m sobre el nivel del mar.
